Attorney Michael E. Mone, Jr. presents to BC students on Guantánamo
Attorney Michael E. Mone, Jr. spoke to a class of BC students studying “Law and Society” at the Woods College of Advancing Studies about his experiences representing detainees imprisoned at the US Naval Base in Guantánamo, Cuba. Attorney Mone described how his advocacy resulted in his client’s release from Guantánamo, resettlement in Ireland, and reunion with his wife and children after nearly eight years of separation. Attorney Mone also discussed with the class the broader challenges faced by the US post 9-11, in terms of maintaining a balance between security and civil liberties. The class is taught by Judge James V. Menno, Associate Justice for the Massachusetts Probate & Family Court.
